Newmorphic is a startup company created in January 2026. Its mission is to develop spiking neural networks (SNNs) with a very low energy consumption to integrate artificial intelligence in all kinds of objects (a term often referred to as edge AI). We use Neuro-Synaptic Random Access Memory (NSRAM) technology to implement compact electronic neurons and synapses [Nature 640, 69-76, 2025]. These are 2-transistor cells that control punch-through impact ionization in standard silicon CMOS transistors by adjusting the bulk resistance. As we don’t use novel nanomaterials, our approach shows 100% yield, low variability, low cost and excellent compatibility with the semiconductor industry.
